Statement of faith

YAHWEH

We believe in one God, Yahweh, whose essential nature is that of a living, personal Spirit. Yahweh is infinitely perfect in all of his attributes, he is the creator and sustainer of all things, and he exists in three equally divine persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible, consisting of 66 books of the Old and New Testament, is the revelation of Yahweh to mankind and is fully inspired by him through human authors. We believe the Bible is without error in the original writings, is the complete revelation of his will for salvation, and is the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. We believe the Bible is the supreme and final authority for all Christian faith and conduct.

THE HUMAN CONDITION

We believe that Yahweh created man on the 6th day of creation in his own perfect image. Through disobedience, the first man, Adam, sinned and fell from his original state of moral perfection. As a consequence, Adam brought upon himself and upon the whole human race the penalty for sin, which is spiritual and physical death. In union with Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under his wrath. Only through Yahweh’s saving work through Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is Yahweh incarnate, fully God and fully man, one person in two natures. We believe Jesus was conceived through Yahweh’s Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of Yahweh the Father as our High Priest and Advocate. Jesus’ entire purpose for walking on this earth was to be a witness for his Father, to provide mankind with a perfect example on how to live, worship, and serve Yahweh, and to provide a WAY, through his own death, for humans to have a relationship with their Heavenly Father.

SALVATION

We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed his blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. We believe his atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation. There is only ONE WAY to Yahweh and that is through his son Jesus Christ. Jesus himself said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me” (John 14:6 RSV).

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is Yahweh’s Spirit given in Jesus’ name to those who confess that Jesus died on the cross for their sins. The Holy Spirit is sent to believers to dwell within them in order to illuminate, guide, equip and empower them for Christ-like living and service. It is through the Holy Spirit that believers are able to hear God’s voice and feel his presence in their daily lives.

SATAN

We believe that Satan is real, and is the greatest enemy of Yahweh and man. We hold these beliefs about Satan because the Old Testament talks about him, and Jesus, the Son of God, experienced him first hand while he walked this earth. Satan’s whole purpose in life is to keep people from believing in Yahweh and Jesus so as to keep them from hearing Yahweh’s voice and becoming one of God’s children. His greatest desire to become god of the physical world in which we live, so that man will worship him. We believe Satan will ultimately meet his doom in the lake of fire, where he will remain for eternity.

THE CHURCH

We believe the one true church is comprised of ALL who have been justified by Yahweh’s grace through faith alone in his son Jesus, and have received the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. True believers in Jesus Christ are united by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ, of which Jesus is the Head. The mission of the church is to make disciples for Christ in all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

CHRIST’S RETURN

We believe in the personal, bodily, and imminent return of Jesus Christ to take his people to be with him and to judge and rule the earth in righteousness. We believe in the resurrection of the body for both believers and unbelievers. We believe those people who put their faith in Jesus Christ, as their Lord and Savior will live eternally in the presence of Yahweh, while the unbeliever will be judged for their sins and experience the punishment of eternal separation from the presence of Yahweh in hell. “And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent” (John 17:3 RSV).

Scriptures We Stand On

Hearing & Knowing God’s Voice

“Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the LORD [Yahweh] is his name: Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known" (Jeremiah 33:2-3, ESV). [Exodus 3:13-15 see Footnote]

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one” (John 10:27-30, ASV).

Dreams, Visions, Prophecy

“And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy" (Acts 2:17-18).

Dreams and Visions

“In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, while they slumber on their beds, then he opens the ears of men…” (Job 33:15-16a).

Prophecy

“to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues" (1 Corinthians 12:10).

“Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy" (1 Corinthians 14:1).

Healing

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues…they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover" (Mark 16:17-18).
“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working" (James 5:13-16).
